Special Educational Needs Provision

Provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities

At Shottermill Junior School we are committed to ensuring that all children are well supported and we pride ourselves on our fully inclusive approach to teaching and learning.  We work extremely hard to ensure that all children have equal access to the same educational experiences and the broad and balanced curriculum on offer at our school, which aims to foster children’s curiosity and develop their independence and love of learning.

We are committed to working with parents and outside agencies to ensure that pupils who require additional support, are identified early on and the appropriate provision is put in place.  We operate on the cycle of: Assess, Plan, Do, Review, whilst fully involving children and parents in the process.

From September 2014, the Government published new information on how schools should ensure children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) should be identified and supported in their learning.

The links below provide further information for parents on these SEND reforms, Surrey’s approach and clarifies the Wave 1, 2 and 3 provision that is currently available at our school.  There is also information on our Local Offer and our new SEND Policy.

If you require any further information or are concerned about your child’s development, please make an appointment to speak with our Inclusion and Learning Support Manager (SENCo) Mrs Jayne Davies.

We are committed to ensuring that we are an inclusive school which caters for all differing abilities and needs.  If however you are a parent and wish to raise a concern about your child's provision at our school, please follow the process outlined in the Complaints Principles & Procedures document which can be located here.
